Carlton Bolling praised for their outstanding implementation of the Early Careers Framework programme

Exceed Teaching School Hub, which focuses on helping schools and trusts invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop, and retain top-quality teachers and leaders, has commended Carlton Bolling in a recent case study for their outstanding implementation of the Early Careers Framework (ECF) programme.

Carlton Bolling is an outstanding secondary school in an inner-city area with high levels of deprivation, has implemented Ambition’s ECF programme on a large scale. The school supports 34 Early Career Teachers (ECTs), who make up 27% of the teaching staff, with guidance from 27 dedicated mentors.

Neil Sutcliffe, Assistant Headteacher and Induction Tutor at Carlton Bolling, has been instrumental in integrating the ECF programme into the school’s ethos of ‘Excellence for All’. He ensured that the training provided aligns with the specific needs of the school, offering invaluable support to new teachers.

Due to the success of the ECF programme, Carlton Bolling expanded instructional coaching to all staff. This approach has become a powerful tool for school improvement, helping to nurture ECTs and mentors as future leaders within the Trust.
