Carlton Keighley Alumna Secures Full Scholarship to Harvard

We are delighted to celebrate the incredible achievements of Tina Chawira, a former student at Carlton Keighley, who has been offered a full scholarship to study at Harvard University, one of the top universities in the world. Tina will pursue a joint degree in Government and East Asian Studies in Boston, with the scholarship covering tuition, living expenses, and travel.

Tina’s journey is a shining example of what Carlton Keighley students can achieve. She joined New College Bradford in September 2024 to study Politics, Economics, Sociology, Performing and Production Arts, and an EPQ. Since then, she has embraced every opportunity to challenge herself, including a World Challenge trip to Nepal and the Sutton Trust Fulbright US Programme summer school, experiences that have prepared her for this exciting next step.

“I am very excited about the offer,” said Tina. “Studying at Harvard will be a unique experience, but I can’t wait to give back to my schools and inspire other students to reach for similar opportunities.”

Tina’s success has not gone unnoticed. Harvard is consistently ranked among the top five universities globally and has an admission rate of just 3–4%, compared with 14–17% at Oxford and Cambridge. 

Before she leaves for Harvard, Carlton Keighley will be inviting Tina back as part of their alumni programme. She will speak to current students about her experiences and the opportunities available to them. Tina is a fantastic role model, demonstrating that dedication, ambition, and courage can open doors to the most competitive global opportunities.
