Roger enjoyed a distinguished legal career spanning 38 years, working at senior level within local authority legal departments. For much of this time, he specialised in education law, contributing to a number of high-profile cases heard in the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords. Following his departure from local government, Roger established his own education consultancy and training company, providing advice and support to 24 London Boroughs as well as major urban authorities including Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. His expertise in the field is further reflected in his authorship of five published books.
Alongside his professional achievements, Roger has dedicated more than 20 years to school governance across a wide range of educational settings, serving as both Vice Chair and Chair of Governors. He currently chairs Carlton Academy Trust’s Special Schools Standards Committee, where his knowledge and commitment continue to have a significant impact.
Reflecting on receiving the honour, Roger said: “It was a lovely surprise. I am absolutely delighted and very humbled to be recognised with such an award”.
Everyone at Carlton Academy Trust extends their warmest congratulations to Roger on this well-deserved recognition.
