Oulton Academy recognised as an SSAT EFA Ambassador School!

We’re thrilled to share that Oulton Academy has been awarded SSAT Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA) Ambassador School status! This recognition highlights the academy’s dedication to high-quality teaching and continuous improvement, ensuring every student gets the best possible learning experience.

The SSAT EFA programme is the only initiative backed by a large-scale study proving its positive impact on GCSE results in just two years. By embedding formative assessment into everyday teaching, Oulton Academy has shown a real commitment to helping students progress and achieve their full potential.

Principal John Higgins shared his pride in this achievement:
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. At Oulton Academy, we are always striving for the highest standards in education, and the EFA programme has played a huge role in strengthening our teaching strategies to support student success.”

Carlton Academy Trust CEO, Adrian Kneeshaw,  also praised the school’s efforts, saying:  “This is a fantastic accolade and recognition of the hard work the whole team has taken on. Oulton Academy’s dedication to embedding formative assessment is making a real difference for students, and it’s wonderful to see their efforts being acknowledged at this level.”

This Ambassador status puts Oulton Academy among a select group of schools leading the way in evidence-based educational improvement. By using assessment to guide and enhance learning—rather than just measure it—the academy ensures every student gets the support they need to grow in confidence, resilience, and a love for learning.

This fantastic achievement will make a lasting impact on students for years to come!

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
