Thorpe ‘New Teacher of the Year’ Honoured at Teaching Oscars

Thorpe primary’s bulging rollcall of recognition has been further enhanced after the schools’ Dan Callaghan was named Silver Award winner in the ‘New Teacher of the Year’ at the 2023 BBC/Pearson National Teaching Awards.

Dubbed ‘The Oscars of Teaching’, the awards recognise the best in education practice across Britain and those who have made a significant impact on student’s lives.

Head of School Paul Mennell felt the award was well-deserved commenting “We are proud to have Mr Callaghan as a vital member of our teaching staff”.

“This nomination serves as a testament to the exceptional dedication, passion, and commitment that Mr Callaghan has consistently demonstrated in the classroom and beyond”.

He continued, “His unwavering efforts in shaping the minds of our young learners have not only caught our attention but also gained recognition on a national level”.
