Three Carlton Academy Trust schools shortlisted at the Tes Awards 2025!

The best schools and teachers across the country have been shortlisted in this year’s Tes Schools Awards. The Awards, which have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of education’, celebrate the best of education across the UK. It has now been revealed that both Carlton Bolling and Oulton Academy have been shortlisted in the category of Secondary School of the Year, and Marshfield Primary School has has been shortlisted in the categories of EYFS Setting of the Year and Staff Wellbeing School of the Year! In additional to these incredible achievements, John Higgins, Head of School at Oulton Academy has also been shortlisted for Secondary Headteacher of the Year!

We are incredibly proud that three Carlton Academy Trust schools are amongst just six in West Yorkshire to be shortlisted this year, having been recognised nationally for their excellence .

The Tes Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary.

The shortlist was compiled by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders and experts. The schools and teachers they chose showcase the best of education across the sector within 21 award categories, covering all areas of school education.

Adrian Kneeshaw, CEO of Carlton Academy Trust, shared his pride, saying: “We are absolutely delighted to see three of our schools recognised on a national stage through the Tes Schools Awards. To have two of our secondary academies shortlisted for Secondary School of the Year is a phenomenal achievement and speaks volumes about the consistently high standards across our Trust. I am particularly proud to see our focus on early years and staff wellbeing celebrated at Marshfield, and John Higgins’ inspirational leadership recognised at Oulton. These nominations reflect the unwavering dedication, care and ambition of our staff, students and communities. We are proud of every one of them and look forward to celebrating their achievements at the awards.

Winners will be announced on 20th June at a glittering gala awards night at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
